User Research
The project involves conducting both primary and secondary research to comprehend diverse user types, motivations, and challenges within the chosen category. A survey is crafted to glean insights from real users actively engaged with the chosen app category, aiming to identify distinct user types and their experiences. The subsequent competitor analysis & secondary research focused on selecting two key user types to develop detailed personas & create empathy maps.
While I faced some challenges with the survey portion of the project, these provided valuable learning opportunities, and I now have a clear strategy for improving my approach in future iterations. I found particular success in creating user personas and empathy maps, which allowed me to deeply understand user behavior and needs. To ensure authenticity, I collaborated with my older sister and her teenage son—real users whose perspectives I could not have fully anticipated on my own. This experience offered meaningful insights into generational differences in music streaming habits and enriched the overall user research process.
